Come and join Cherie in the kitchen to bake Irish Easter celebratory treats from her first book, The Irish Bakery, beautifully photographed by Andrew Montgomery. It precedes the much-acclaimed follow-up, The Irish Kitchen. Both books draw on Cherie's memories of growing up in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, in a large family that baked with love and care.

Cherie's recipes offer simple & nourishing food that has been cooked in farmhouse kitchens, pubs & cosy tea rooms in Ireland for decades and in this demonstration she will show you the tips and tricks on how to bring a slice of this to your own kitchen table.

Cherie is going to show you how to make the perfect Hot Cross Buns & her signature Guinness Bread which you will enjoy with lunch, prepared for you from a selection of Cherie's recipes from the Irish Kitchen

You will bake your very own Simnel cake to take home at the end of the session & Easter spiced biscuits ideal treats for the Easter holidays. This is a hands on session cooking along with Cherie, so she will be able to show you all the tricks and techniques so you gain all the experience

What’s included:

  • Refreshments on arrival and available throughout the class
  • Apron and all of the equipment required
  • Delicious grazing lunch - created using Cherie's recipes
  • All ingredients provided and weighed out in advance for you
  • Your own freshly baked Simnel Cake & Easter Biscuits to take home to enjoy

Cherie Denham

Cherie is a celebrated cook, shaped by her upbringing on a farm in rural County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. She grew up in tune with the seasons, living frugally, eating seasonally, and wasting nothing. Her grannies and great aunts baked daily, cooking recipes handed down the generations, handwritten on paper scraps. Cherie’s recipes collect and collate the essence of these memories but add a contemporary twist. Cherie is Leith’s School of Food and Wine trained, has worked junior teacher at Leith’s, has been a private chef and run demonstrations and cookery classes. The Irish Kitchen, with the photographs by Andrew Montgomery, published by Montgomery Press, is her second book. The book’s generous recipes and atmospheric photography pays homage to her rich cultural legacy of her upbringing in Ireland.

You will be learning in a beautifully designed kitchen which provides a warm welcoming environment that can accommodate everything from group cookery classes to intimate chef’s tables, with the versatility to suit everyone.
